The series has earned critical acclaim throughout its six seasons, as well as numerous awards and nominations, and is considered one of the best shows to air on ABC in recent memory.

If you still haven’t given Modern Family a shot, consider the following reasons why you should really be watching Modern Family.

It’s got a great cast of characters

One of the benefits of ensemble shows like Modern Family is that there are bound to be many great characters–and enough diversity of personality, relationships and personal problems that every viewer should be able to find at least one character they can strongly relate to. Modern Family has 11 interesting characters with their own distinct traits, pasts and lives that make them fascinating and interesting to watch every week; whether you’re watching for the bubbly Cam, the silly Gloria, or the competition—but still soft hearted—Phil, or more.

It’s funny in more ways than one

Some comedy shows rely on one main type of humor to get them through the easy episode. Modern Family is unique because it actually uses multiple types of humor in each episode—from whimsical and quirky humor to outright slapstick to sarcastic one-liners and everything in between. The show’s humor, like its ensemble cast, has a little something for everyone! And the writers of the show know how to balance the humor to prevent it from being too slapstick, too sarcastic, and so on; this makes every episode, even the ones that fans often consider the ‘weakest links,’ to be a pleasant experience to watch.

It’s got heart

Modern Family, like many modern comedies, has that special something that grounds the show in more than just laughs: heart. Without heart, comedies are simply a funny show to watch every week. With heart, the show becomes something more—something that people become invested in, can connect to, and can even be moved by.

It’s critically acclaimed
