Secrets Behind Scandal: 5 Things You Didn’t Know

Scandal is one of the most popular and—well—scandalous shows on television. Showrunner Shonda Rhimes consistently delivers when it comes to dramatic, tension-filled, and even controversial storylines that leave many fans shouting in shock at their TV screens. The show has been renewed for yet another season, which is expected to begin airing in the fall of 2015.

Secrets of Scandal

With a show like Scandal, it should come as no surprise that there are many secrets about the show—its production, its characters, and even its award winning cast. Let’s take a closer look at some surprising things you didn’t know about Scandal.

The show’s fans have a special nickname

It’s not unusual for fans of TV shows to get special nicknames–from the creators or otherwise–but the nicknames for fans of Scandals may seem a little bit unusual at first. Fans of the show are referred to as “gladiators.” Why? Because of one of the show’s most infamous scenes, when Harrison asks Quinn if she wants to be a “gladiator [wearing] a suit.”

Jeff Perry has a relationship with the casting director

This is one of those rare occasions where you can say for certain that an actor slept with the casting director–because actor Jeff Perry (who plays Cyrus) is married to Linda Lowy, the show’s casting director!

The show’s monologues have their own term

One of the most unique aspects of the show is the fast-paced monologues which have become a staple of the series. These quick-talking monologues are referred to as being said at “Scandal pace,” because of how quickly–yet articulately–they are delivered.

The cast isn’t allowed to see scripts until the official table reads

Shonda Rhimes is famous for wanting to keep spoilers about the show under wraps as much as possible. One of the ways that she achieves this is by banning actors from the writer’s room, except in the case where they (like Tony Goldwyn) will be directing an episode. Otherwise, the actors are unable to see scripts for each episode until the official table read for each episode is underway.

Sometimes, however, Shonda Rhimes has been known to deliver subtle hints at what might be coming, although she never gives away key details. Kerry Washington once revealed that Rhimes asked her how she felt about running barefoot—several weeks later, Washington’s character was kidnapped and she had to run barefoot in her attempt to escape.

Cast members already have their eye on props

It’s not unusual for cast members of long-running TV shows to take home souvenirs that serve as a reminder of their time in a series. And to no one’s surprise, cast members of the show have admitted that they have some particular props in mind that they would like to take home when the show ends. The props have included the famous shake weight in Huck’s office, the giant table from the Pope and Associate office, and–in true Quinn fashion–everything from Quinn’s apartment set.   For information more awesome entertainment in your home, click http://cabletelevisionbundles.s9.com/time-warner-digital-cable-tv-deals-.html now.
